I have just finished a couple of new pieces. One is for the Peckham Chamber Orchestra; the other is a more speculative piece for Madrid. The PCO piece is interesting as it is collaborative (in a way). Hannah Jones, the conductor and organiser of the orchestra has commissioned members of the orchestra to compose two sets of 16 bars. There is a list of composers. The procedure is that the next composer on the list is told the last chord of the previous 16 bars, and only the last chord gets passed on. I am involved because my friend plays in the PCO, and asked me to provide her contribution.
There appear to be 10 composers, so for the musicologists, the form should be A B C D E F G H I J J' I' H' G' F' E' D' C' B' A'. As Peckham is a little village outside London (it used to be), I wrote something pastoral in 6/8.
There is a small present for bears everywhere on the Music page
