I don't know what to say about the events that happened in Paris last night. I have recorded a piece based on la Marseillaise by Franz Liszt. It is not a great performance (there must be better ones on YouTube), but it is sincerely meant as a musical gesture of support for France.

I played this (almost bar by bar) on a version of a historic Pleyel piano.

In an earlier blog entry I wrote about Prayers from inside the Ark, poems by Carmen Bernos de Gasztold. They have inspired some of my music. As there are 27 poems, I have been using two at a time and calling each set Two Prayers from inside the Ark, and writing for different groups of instruments.
